Description:
Flat is an exhibition of paintings by Lotta Esko and Saara Mahbouba. The exhibition uses the two artists’ different painting styles to explore the ways in which flat, painted surfaces can create a sense of space where this none – whether by creating paintings that seem to intrude into the space of the viewer, create worlds within their own depths, or function within some other unknown happenstance of making us feel like there is more to them than the materials that made them.
Flat is intended as a light hearted exhibition. It is a showcase of the pleasure and gratification two artists get in putting paint to a surface and seeing what happens.
